THE PREMISE: Forced into a loveless marriage by her parents, Mary and her new missionary husband make their way through Asia to spread the gospel. On their journey they are captured by Chinese Warriors, resulting in a scandalous love affair and a historical turn of events...
Mary stared with loathing at her husband. She felt a stirring of guilt and prayed to be cleansed of these sinful thoughts. Her hand unconsciously travelled to the emeralds secreted away in her bodice.
These precious stones would be her escape, her future.
From his mountainside vantage point, Emperor Li looked down on their carriage. He hated these missionaries. They destabilized his land and the minds of his people. They deserved to die.
He signaled his scouts to advance. As he approached the carriage his fortune-teller’s words sprang to mind – a new dynasty would begin this day. His spirits lifted.
